#1: MSL CAMEROUN

CamerounMSL CAMEROON which began in 2004 with the inauguration of the Bastos chapter has grown into a network of existing chapters in the capital cities of most of the provinces. Each chapter has adopted a mission field for prayer and material support seeking to establish effective partnerships for mission advancement.

Kangaleri, re-writing their story: The common slogan in far Northern Cameroon is ‘build a mosque first and the infidels will come inside by themselves’’. Because of this campaign, a lot of funds are sent for the building of mosques in all the villages. This is an attempt to destabilize the gains of mission efforts in reaching the far North where missionaries labour in a harsh terrain.
Kangaleri, one of such small communities in the far North of Cameroon is a point of convergence for the Shu’a Arabs, Mandara and Muktele, some of the most unreached people groups in the region. It is also a point of spiritual contention where Muslims make up 22% of the population, 72% are Traditionalists while only 0.6% are Christians.

MSL Bastos chapter in Yaoundé adopted this field in 2007 and is seeking to claim this land for Christ through its partnership with Christian Missionary Foundation (CMF) Cameroon. The chapter is supporting 2 missionary students at CMF School of Missions in Mora, constructing a church building at Kangaleri and digging a well for water to serve the neighbouring villages. So far these projects cost 1,500,000 CFA (about $3,100). The people often trek about 5km in search of water.

The prayers of God’s people are needed to usher in a wave of living water to quench the spiritual thirst in the lives of many in Kangaleri. Contact Details

Prayer point: Pray for the growth of chapters in Cameroon that they will develop a deep burden for the lost and give their best time and resources to support missions sacrificially.

#2: MSL GAMBIA

The ministry of MSL GAMBIA is discharged through prayer and financial support to indigenous agencies seeking to Gambia_mapwin the Muslim peoples of the sub-region to Christ. The Fajara, Westfield and Basse Chapters are engaged in periodic medical outreaches to unreached areas in the Gambia to complement the evangelistic efforts of indigenous workers.

Partnership: The Fajara chapter is in the process of reviewing her four year partnership with House of Wisdom, a strategic mission reaching the Fula peoples of North West Africa.

Report: MSL Fajara Chapter (Gambia) has been in partnership with a strategic mission group in the Fulas, a gate-way people group in West Africa. God has been at work through various efforts to win them to Himself. Several are hearing the gospel and some are coming to Christ and being 'discipled'.
The Chapters have undertaken medical outreaches to almost ten communities in need of the gospel in the last 5 years. The most recent mission was undertaken by the a team of about 20 doctors, pastors and members from the new Basse chapter where about 140 persons were cared for, treated and prayed for. Material support was delivered to the missionary starting a work among the Fulas near Bansang.

MSC: MSL Gambia held its first national conference from 1st to 2nd May 2009 bringing together stakeholders and the church in general to focus on the theme “Staying the course”. Venue was the Gambia Pastoral Institute (GPI), Kairaba Avenue, Serekunda.

Prayer Point: MSL Fajara Chapter in the Gambia is in partnership with this strategic outreach to the Fula people. Please, pray that more of the Fula (Fulani) spread across the stretch from Guinea to Sudan will encounter Christ in diverse ways.

#3: MSL NIGER

More than 75% of the land is made up of the barren Sahara desert. Of its over 11 million people, less than 3% claim faith in Christ.

MSL NigerWith the inauguration of the first Niamey chapter in March, 2008 MSL NIGER becomes the youngest National Movement. The chapter meets on the last Sunday of every month. The focus of the work in Niger is to provide discipleship training and mission awareness to the church in Niger with an aim to encourage some indigenous effort in missions support.

Partnership: The Niamey chapter will seek to adopt a very spiritually needy area for partnership in the next few weeks.
This Muslim land is open for the gospel, and Muslims are more receptive than ever before, yet response has been small and church growth slow.

Report: The Tuaregs are found in Niger Republic, Burkina Faso, Mali, Mauritania, Algeria, Sudan and Chad. Basically desert dwellers with some of them migrating to major cities of West Africa, they live clustered by themselves. The word “Tuareg” means a people without God, which is what they were called by their northern Arab neighbours from North Africa. They however prefer to call themselves the “Tamachek”.

Majority of the millions of Tuaregs have never heard the gospel even once but there are few isolated believers scattered across the borders. MSL Niger seeks to run conferences and mission awareness programmes in the major towns to awaken the church to reaching the entire nation with the gospel especially places where the name of Christ is not yet known.

#4: MSL GABON

MSL GabonMSL GABON currently has three functional chapters all seeking to make an impact in this spiritually challenged country. The focus is partnership with indigenous mission movements through prayer and material support as well as on-going mobilization process to see the Baka Pygmies of the dense equatorial forest and other unreached peoples come to Christ through the gospel.

Battle cry for Fang: MSL pioneer chapter in Libreville, Gabon has recently entered into partnership with Alliance Christienne (Christian Alliance) in a church-planting effort among the Fang people group of Woleu ntem Province, Northern Gabon. This highly syncretic tribe practice a combination of Catholism and Ancestral worship. Initiation into the Eboka cult which helps adherents to make contact with the dead is rife among the Fang people. Though churches are seen in several places, there is no evidence of a personal relationship with Jesus. The conversion of the President and top government officials to Islam and the mass migration of Hausa and Fulani traders and other tribes from West Africa have led to remarkable growth of Islam among the Fang.

A fresh effort in prayer and outreach is required to re-evangelize the area to bring the Fang in contact with the saving power of the living Christ. As part of its ministry effort, MSL Libreville chapter will be embarking on a medical mission up north later in the year. Please, pray for God’s move in Gabon and revival across the Central African sub-region.

Prayer point: Pray for genuine conversions and salvation of souls in Gabon as Chapters partners with Mission Agencies to transform nations.

MSL Nigeria, the pioneer National Movement of the MSL exists as a catalyst to mobilise the vast potentials of the Nigerian Church to provide prayer, financial, emotional and material support for cross-cultural outreaches to verified unreached people groups in Africa and beyond.
